Position Summary
Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department within the College of Education. This position’s anticipated hire date will be August 2, 2021.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction (C & I) (face-to-face and online) particularly in the area of secondary education.
• Effectively advise/mentor students at the undergraduate level
• Engage students in high impact learning practices
• Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service relevant to the university, community, and state
• Develop a sustainable scholarship program including seeking external funds to support the program.
• Collaborate with faculty and public-school partners in the development, review, assessment, and maintenance of C & I programs particularly in the area of secondary education
• Assist in promoting C & I programs and recruiting students
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the department chair
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Understanding of the knowledge, skills, and dispositions expected of today's education professionals 
• Understanding of the public-school culture and the role of, and demands on, the public-school educator within that culture 
• Ability to model a variety of essential teacher education behaviors including organization, effective communication skills, ability to participate effectively in team work, strong scholarship skills, collegiality 

Minimum Required Qualifications
• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction (Secondary Education, Special Education or a closely-related field). ABD considered if expected degree completion is six months from hiring date
• Minimum of three (3) years of U.S. public school experience (7-12) as a teacher of record in a physical teaching environment (not fully virtual) 

Preferred Qualifications for Assistant/Associate Professor
• Experience in college teaching, particularly in secondary education 
• Experience in college online teaching
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with faculty, interns/field-based participants, and school partners
• Evidence of scholarly activity
• Expertise in the use of instructional technology and online learning
• Evidence of or potential for fostering an inclusive environment for diverse populations
• Familiarity with evidence-based strategies in Curriculum and Instruction
• Evidence of service to the profession
• Ability to teach topics related to diversity and special education in addition to secondary education would be a plus
