Position Summary
There are
multiple openings for full-time, tenure-track positions in the
Department of Computer and Information Science that will support
the computer science, cybersecurity, and information technology
degree programs. The successful candidate(s) will teach
undergraduate courses in computer science, cybersecurity,
information technology, and related fields. Although candidates
with expertise in all areas of computer science are welcome to
apply, those capable of teaching core courses, such as data
structures in C++, operating systems, and computer organization,
advanced security courses, and computer networking are highly
desired. Additionally, being able to teach in-person, online and
hybrid is expected. Anticipated start date is August 2, 2021.
The Department of Computer and Information Science, located on the Russellville campus, is the oldest department in the state offering Computer Science and Information Systems Baccalaureate degrees. The department delivers a Master of Science in Information Technology degree, five Bachelor of Science degrees (Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, and Information Technology), and two Associate degrees (Applied Science in Cybersecurity and Applied Science in Information Technology). The programs leading to the BS in Computer Science and the BS in Information Systems are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, teach and assess undergraduate and graduate courses
- Engage students in high-impact learning practices
- Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community and state
- Effectively advise/mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Perform research that leads to publications in journals and conferences
- Develop a sustainable scholarship program including seeking external funds to support the program
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to teach a variety of computer science, cybersecurity, and information technology courses
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
Minimum Requirements
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in computer
science or a closely related field or if ABD the degree must be
awarded by December 31, 2021
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service
- Participation in community outreach programs
- Experience in ABET accreditation
- Industry experience in computing
- Experience in online teaching
- Evidence of or potential for fostering an inclusive environment for diverse populations
- Record of research in quality journals and conferences
- Record of obtaining external grants
