The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) invites applications for the newly established position of Provost and Chief Academic Officer.

Situated on the banks of the Thames River in New London, Connecticut, the Academy is an institution renowned for academic excellence and holistic leader development steeped in the Coast Guard's Core Values of Honor, Respect and Devotion to Duty. Graduates of the Coast Guard Academy receive a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard. These service-ready junior officers are assigned directly to positions of leadership in one of the most adventurous and rewarding organizations in the world.

As the Academy enters its one hundred and forty-fifth year, USCGA seeks an experienced, innovative and visionary leader who can help define the direction of the Academic Division well into the 21st century. The Provost and Chief Academic Officer reports directly to the Superintendent, and must employ an equity-minded, collaborative and team-oriented approach in ensuring; sustained excellence of academic programs, support and advocacy for faculty and staff, and unity of effort within the Academy's Senior Leadership Team.

A successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills when interacting with a vast array of institutional stakeholders to include the public, the Department of Homeland Security, the Coast Guard enterprise, faculty & Staff, cadets, peers, higher education, parents, industry, and alumni. They must embody the Coast Guard's Core Values and offer steady and unambiguous leadership in support of our equity, diversity, and inclusion strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will also ensure that institutional transformation are integral to their day-to- day work within the Academic Division. The individual must be skilled in recruiting, teaching, coaching and mentoring a diverse faculty while fostering an inclusive and equity-minded culture and climate.
