Lecturer- Chemistry & Biochemistry - Fort Lewis College
A Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is a member of the teaching faculty in the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Fort Lewis College with expertise in introductory Chemistry and associated laboratories. In addition to teaching 4 or 5 classes per semester (27 contact hours per year), they are also expected to hold regular office hours, attend department meetings, and contribute to discussions regarding curriculum, especially at the introductory level.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry
- Candidates for the position need to demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to:
- excellence in classroom and laboratory teaching at all levels
- teaching chemistry courses within the liberal arts context
- teaching students with diverse academic backgrounds
- Prior experience teaching introductory general chemistry and associated laboratories
- Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the introductory chemistry lecture and lower division
laboratories which could include general chemistry, organic, and analytical labs
- Employ best practices for culturally responsive teaching and mentoring students
- In addition to 12-15 hours in the classroom each week, hold 6 additional hours of office hours each week
- Attend regular department meetings which occur 2-3 times per month
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act
and Section 508.
- Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned

The salary is $40,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
