The LSA Opportunity Hub at the University of Michigan is looking for a Director of Employer Engagement who will help achieve our mission to support students as they develop their career aspirations and professional identities. We provide students access to internships, internship funding, career coaching and exploration, and connections to employers and alums. We believe in the power of a liberal arts education, and the Director of Employer Engagement will design opportunities for liberal arts students to connect to liberal arts alum.

The Director of Employer Engagement provides leadership for the Hub and college’s employer engagement efforts, including leadership of the internship program, development of employer relationships, and recruitment practices for the Hub and the college. You will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Development and Career Initiatives. As the Director of Employer Engagement, you will promote employer partnerships and build employer relationships. These responsibilities focus on the three following areas: 

Employer engagement strategy for a liberal arts college: Oversee a comprehensive plan for working with employers that is informed by the student identities, experiences, and goals, and industry knowledge; Create and grow a portfolio of employers.

Leadership for the employer engagement area: Direct and supervise a team; create guidance for employer engagement across the Hub and for the employer engagement team; provide leadership and team management.

Operational Strategy: Oversee the internship area, employer development and recruitment, and the LSA Internship scholarship; create structures that grow career-related opportunities that are supportive of the identities, experiences, and goals of our students. Oversee the implementation of operational efforts around metrics; employ inclusive, equitable and racially just practices to manage employer engagement in the Hub.

You will:

    Lead and supervise a team of 8 with 2 direct reports that builds a sustainable portfolio of Hub employers coordinated across internships to full-time jobs Oversee an employer portfolio of opportunities that reflects the evolving career interests of LSA students based on factors such as industries, geography, and represents the identities, experiences, and goals of LSA students Provide direction to the internship scholarship practices and fund management Develop employer outreach processes that allow the LSA Opportunity Hub to develop employer relationships that support the Hub mission and visions Connect Hub recruitment practices to the other U-M schools and colleges

You have:

    Master’s degree in relevant field 5 or more years of experience, and demonstrated success, in managing employer relationships  Demonstrated investment in creating equity, equitable access, and inclusive engagement; commitment to furthering the development of antiracist practices Experience supervising and leading professional staff, including providing behavior-based feedback Experience designing and implementing creative programming
