Job Description

The Agricultural Technology program (AT) is part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Virginia Tech. The AT program consists of two years of education, leading to an Associate of Agriculture Degree. Its primary purpose is to provide students with the practical experience needed to be productive in the many careers within the Agricultural Industry. The AT program is seeking applicants for an academic year, nontenure track, instructor position. The faculty member will be expected to teach at least four courses with additional responsibilities listed below. Specific courses will include but are not limited to: AT Survey, Communication Skills, Applied Agricultural Mathematics, Contemporary Agricultural Issues with additional responsibilities to include recruitment, marketing, and social media/webpage maintenance. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the director.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in related agricultural field; Experience in teaching related courses; Demonstrated success in teaching with styles and methods that emphasize hands-on, practical, science based learning experiences; Excellent communication, human relation, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in a postsecondary setting; Industry experience
