The Skidmore College Counseling Center is renewing its call for applications to fill two Staff Psychologist/Social Worker positions, with a start date as soon as possible but no later than mid-August. These positions are full-time, 11 month appointments. The positions involve providing short-term therapy, including single session work; crisis intervention, including rotation in after-hours on-call coverage; psychoeducational programming; consultation to faculty, staff, and families; leading a skills-based workshop series several times each semester; serving as a liaison to our Office of Student Diversity Programs or Athletics Department; and participation in the Center’s multidisciplinary treatment team, as well as the larger division of Student Affairs. The staff clinicians will also be involved in training the college’s Residential Life staff as well as other student leadership training.
Please note: a key responsibility of these positions is to support the success and mental well-being of students from historically marginalized and under-represented backgrounds through the provision of culturally responsive and identify-informed services. As such, candidates should have a demonstrated ability to build rapport and work successfully with diverse populations including BIPOC students, first generation students, international students, and LGBTQ+ students, and should speak to this experience directly in their cover letter and other application materials.
Candidates must possess a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a Master’s in Social Work; have completed a supervised internship; be licensed or license-eligible within one year as a psychologist or LCSW in New York State; have strong diagnostic and clinical skills as well as experience in working with a broad array of psychological, emotional, and developmental concerns; and have experience in working with a traditional college-aged population.
Expertise in providing short-term therapy and skilled risk assessment/risk management are essential.
Experience with single-session therapy and/or stepped care would be a plus.
Commensurate with experience
