Job Summary

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering encourages applications for a Postdoctoral Associate !

Microbially guided discovery and assembly of small-molecule pharmaceuticals

We are using microbial systems to guide the design and assembly of small-molecule therapeutics. Our work focuses on difficult-to-drug targets (i.e., "undruggable" proteins). Projects include both bench and computational work (i.e., researchers may focus on one or the other, or a mixture of the two), and a collaboration with a local startup. We are looking for postdocs with experience in synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and/or protein biochemistry.

Biological complexity and artificial cells

We are interested in determining how biology does so much with so little. In this set of programs, we are trying to elucidate the biochemical basis of information processing, dynamic stability, and “low-power complexity” in living systems. Our work extends from E. coli to cuttlefish. We are looking for postdocs with experience in systems biology, synthetic biology, computer science, electrical engineering, protein biochemistry, and/or microfluidics.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

Our research group develops innovative ways to interrogate and engineer biochemical networks (natural and synthetic). We are particularly interested in problems relevant to energy, human health, and biological complexity.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The Postdoctoral Associate will work on an independent research project in the Fox Group. Duties will include assay development, microbial cell culture, molecular biosynthesis and analysis, biophysical and kinetic studies of biocatalytic systems, and/or computational analyses of genomic data and protein systems.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $52,704 - $55,596 annually.

Benefits

The University of Colorado offers excellent benefits , including medical, dental, retirement, paid time off, tuition benefit and ECO Pass.
