Job Description Summary
Auburn University Libraries seeks a creative, enthusiastic, and mission oriented individual to join the Research and Instruction Services Department as Business & Economics Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Research and Instruction Services in the University Libraries, the successful candidate will serve as liaison to the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business and the Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts, which include programs with robust distance education and residential components. This twelve-month tenure-track position requires professional and scholarly activity as well as service on library and university committees.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Serve as liaison and provide outreach to students, staff, and faculty in the highly ranked undergraduate and graduate departments of the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business and the Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts
• Provide research support to students, staff, and faculty in the areas of business and economics
• Develop outcome-based information literacy instruction sessions and online instructional materials for business and economics undergraduate and graduate students
• Engage in collection development and management for business and economics
• Participate in the general education efforts of the Libraries’ instruction program
• Provide general reference services, both virtual and in-person, for the University community as well as members of the public. Some evening and weekend research and instruction service may be required.
SALARY / BENEFITS : Starting salary of $56,410 for an Assistant Professor. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience/qualifications. This is a twelve-month tenure-track position. Benefits include 20 days of vacation leave/12 days of sick leave per year; participation in State Teachers’ Retirement System (mandatory); additional voluntary retirement plans available; health/dental/life/disability insurance.

• Masters of Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program at the time employment begins
• A degree in business/economics or comparable professional experience
• Strong commitment to excellence in public service; adaptability, flexibility, and willingness to engage in continuous learning to meet the changing needs of library users
• Excellent interpersonal skills; strong and effective written communication skills
• Ability to work independently; evidence of ability to initiate and carry projects through to completion
• Demonstrated ability to contribute collegially and productively in a team environment
• Potential to meet university promotion and tenure requirements for library faculty
• Experience providing reference, instruction, collection development, or liaison services in business or economics
• Advanced degree in a business-related discipline
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable standard statistical programs for data analysis
• Familiarity with key social science data sources
• A record of professional, scholarly research activity
