Lecturer of English

Department of English and KSU Journey Honors College

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer of English faculty position beginning August 2021. This faculty position will be a joint appointment between the KSU Journey Honors College and the Department of English in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Area of specialization (English, Rhetoric)
  • Teaching expectations consist of up to 15 hours of undergraduate level instruction per semester. Courses will consist of a combination of HON prefix courses and Honors sections of English classes. (Instructional assignments may vary by semester and include equivalent effort/time completing administrative activities as requested, such as reviewing/approving Honors contracts, Teaching Assistant applications, and the like)
  • Service-includes service on internal Honors committees, participation at Honors events, including recruitment, orientation, academic advising, graduation celebration, and community-building events. Supervision of the Honors Advisory Leadership Council student group and programs. Other duties as assigned.

 

Other responsibilities may include:

 

  • Program development expectations
  • Recruitment expectations
  • Capstone supervision
  • Student teaching/clinical supervision
  • Advising
  • Working with a diverse community
  • Interactions with department/unit faculty outside the college 

 

An earned Doctorate in English, or the foreign equivalent is required. 

 

Other qualifications might include:

  • Licenses, certifications, or professional memberships
  • Specific experiences or skills-prior higher education teaching experience, experience with Honors programs or colleges)
  • Evidence of scholarship/creative activities
  • Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community
  • Supervision of student workers or groups
  • International experiences
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
  • Record of past teaching at a particular level (e.g., graduate vs. undergraduate) or area (sub-discipline)
