St. Charles Community College seeks a full-time Report Writer/Data Analyst who will be responsible for all aspects of the report development process including gathering requirements, report development, testing, implementation, summarization, and documentation. Will provide support for SCC's planning, assessment, institutional research, and program review activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Support enrollment and retention initiatives by creating reports, providing in-depth data analysis, data summarization, and data visualization

Obtain data from internal and external sources; analyze, validate and distribute data, and use internal and external data to create, update, and maintain databases.

Create, enhance, and maintain datasets from multiple sources, data dashboards, and advanced data visualizations. Independently manage data sets, keep data sets error-free, analyze data, and interpret results.

Receive data and report requests, evaluate requirements, build queries, build reports, check data, and deploy reports. Write data report processes for developing queries and running reports.

Works with the Department of Administrative Computing regarding the capture of key student data elements from the College's Student Information System (e.g. Ellucian's Colleague), and recommends procedures for the collection and coding of new and/or existing student data elements to increase the data available for future research projects.

Identify, obtain, and analyze institutional and other relevant data in a timely manner, ensuring it is accurate and easily digestible.

Collaborate with departments such as Admissions and Recruitment, Enrollment Services, and Financial Aid to access data, address issues with student data quality, and maintain data integrity


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science, informatics, management information systems, data analytics, or related field and one year or more of experience or;

Associate's degree in computer science, informatics, data analytics, management information systems, or related field and three or more years of experience.

Experience successfully developing accurate reports, queries, and other data outputs within Business Information (BI), Analytics, or Query tools such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Crystal Reports, Tableau, Business Objects, Microsoft Power BI, QlikView, etc.

Ability to customize BI tools and reports to meet user needs.

Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, templates, and analytical views.

Intermediate to advanced experience writing SQL queries, producing advanced Excel analytics, working with data visualization and business intelligence tools.

Ability to write complex queries to blend and manipulate data from multiple sources.

Ability to summarize data through visual and tabular reports with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.

Excellent project management and organizational skills.

Strong problem-solving skills, ability to communicate with various stakeholders.

Experience in higher education preferred.
