The Department of Physical Sciences invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure-track position as Instructor of Chemistry in the College of Natural and Health Sciences. The department consists of 15 faculty and 2 staff delivering programs within geology, chemistry and physics as well as science education for teacher licensure. In addition, the department provides general education science courses for non-science majors and service courses for programs such as engineering and nursing. Applicants must hold a Master's Degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemistry Education or closely related field (ABD applicants with expected completion by June 30, 2021 also considered). Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching undergraduates with diverse abilities using best teaching practices. Position start date is August 2, 2021. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, teach, and assess undergraduate courses.
- Engage students in high-impact learning practices.
- Effectively advise/mentor students at the undergraduate level.
- Provide impactful departmental, college, university, and professional service to the university, community and state.
Required Minimum Qualification
- M.S. in Chemistry, Chemistry Education or closely related field.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field (or ABD with expected completion by June 30, 2021).
- Demonstrated skills in communication, both written and oral.
- Potential for excellence in teaching Knowledge of and/or experience with implementing innovative teaching and instructional technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse groups and populations.
