Director of Operations
Administrator VI, Band H
Cornell Center for Social Sciences
The Cornell Center for Social Sciences (CCSS), founded in 2019,
represents a major university-wide investment in social science
research. As a member of the CCSS leadership team, the Director of
Operations will help CCSS achieve its mission to accelerate,
enhance, and amplify social science research at Cornell. To do
this, the Director of Operations will oversee core research support
services within the CCSS. These cores include CCSS’s secure data
infrastructure, data replication and reproducibility services,
qualitative research support, and other research support services.
The Director of Operations will also coordinate with units outside
of CCSS, such as Cornell’s Statistical Consulting Unit and
Cornell’s Advanced Computing. A primary goal will be to ensure that
social science research support is provided efficiently and
effectively and meets evolving faculty and student needs. Achieving
this goal will involve developing and implementing strategies to
evaluate the research support currently provided and to assess what
additional types of research support will benefit the Cornell
social science community. The Director of Operations will also
provide and support effective management, oversight, and strategic
planning and will advise and work closely with the CCSS Director on
strategic initiatives to further support social science research at
Cornell.
