Lecturer in Costume Design and Technology

Qualifications: MFA in Theatre Design with an emphasis in Costume, or a related discipline; hand and digital rendering techniques; evidence of teaching in areas of Costume Design, Costume Construction, and related technologies; and costume shop management experience. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion in preparation for joining a university that is also both a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.

Preferred Qualifications: Work experience in professional theatre with experience in a variety of design genres including dance.

Responsibilities: The Department of Dance and Theatre at the University of North Texas invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track full-time Lecturer in Costume Design and Technologies to begin September 1, 2021. The position of Lecturer comes with full benefits. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a 4/4 teaching load (which includes designs for departmental productions); supervise and manage the department costume and make-up shop; mentor and supervise student creative work; collaborate with performance, dance, design/tech faculty and guest artists; and serve as costume and make-up area advisor. Other responsibilities include active participation in recruitment for future students as well as internships and career development for current students. Classes to be taught include, but are not limited to, three levels of costume design, make-up design, costume construction, History of Costume and Décor, and other courses within the candidate’s field of expertise and as assigned.
