Southeastern Louisiana University College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of Bands in the Department of Music and Performing Arts. The department offers the following undergraduate and graduate degrees: Bachelor of Music with concentrations in instrumental performance, jazz studies, piano performance, vocal performance, instrumental education, and vocal education; Master of Music with concentrations in choral conducting, instrumental conducting, music performance, and music theory. We seek a Director of Bands with a commitment to and vision for a thriving music and band program. The Director of Bands will oversee and develop the entire band program including conducting the Southeastern Wind Symphony and Spirit of the Southland Marching Band. Other teaching duties may include conducting, music education, and other duties to fit the candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate in Music by hire date
Previous experience as a recruiter for the wind instrument and percussion areas

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Significant band conducting experience in K-12 music education
Experience with a regional university band program
