Assistant Teaching Professor/Assistant Lecturer
Management: Assistant Teaching Professor/Assistant Lecturer will teach multiple sections of BUS 101: Foundations of Business, advise students, and provide service to the institution and the discipline. BUS 101: Foundations of Business is part of the required First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) curriculum for all Farmer School of Business majors. The FYIC is an innovative four-course bundle that teaches students key skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, computational thinking & coding, ethical thinking, communication, and collaboration. As a BUS 101 team member, you will be a part of a faculty team who work together to integrate these key skills across all four FYIC classes (BUS 101: Foundations of Business; BUS 102: Foundations of Business Communication; ESP 103: Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Thinking; and BUS 104: Introduction to Computational Thinking for Business). BUS 101: Foundations of Business introduces students to the foundational concepts of business and allows students to develop essential skills including critical and creative thinking, communication and collaboration, ethical decision-making, global awareness, and utilizing technology to support business functions. Students will learn their own thinking preferences and learn how to work collaboratively on a team over time.
Service responsibilities undertaken by faculty in the FYIC and their home department could include developing and facilitating programmatic integration and enhanced programmatic efficacy; developing and maintaining teaching materials and resources shared by the FYIC and department; and/or providing support for one or more of the following: Visiting faculty teaching in the FYIC or Department, assessment of FYIC and other courses, e-learning, and career opportunities for students.
Required: Applicants must have earned a master’s degree for rank of Assistant Lecturer or doctorate for rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in a related field by the time of appointment. Candidates must have expertise in teaching within the field, with demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.
Consideration may be given to candidates with multiple years of experience engaging with clients from a variety of industries, organizations, and/or disciplines; experience teaching professional skills (e.g. teamwork, project management, technical writing, reproducibility, coding, verbal and written communication) to students and/or colleagues; commitment to pedagogic innovation; demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking student-centered service responsibilities such as academic and extracurricular advising; and/or demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking programmatic or departmental service responsibilities.
