Coordinator, Project SPEAK
Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Health Promotion, the Project SPEAK Coordinator works to meet the identified goals of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) campus grant to reduce domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus. The position works to engage students, faculty, staff, campus police, community police, community partners, victim advocacy organizations, and other collaborators to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated prevention and intervention plan for the campus that reflects elements of health promotion and integrates safety and well-being.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Organize, lead, and implement the Coordinated Community Response Team including annual training on gender-based violence, strategic planning and policy analysis and revision. Assess and address the needs of underserved populations (e.g., students of color, LGBTQ+ students, students with disabilities, students with limited English proficiency() related to gender-based violence. Facilitate and evaluate gender-based violence prevention, education and training, including bystander intervention for law enforcement, student conduct, and other identified faculty/staff. Implement system of tracking participation in programming by students. Collaborate with faculty and Peer Health Leaders to lead the education and prevention programs across campus. Develo0p and distribute materials (printed, social media, other forums) with information about gender-based violence and Campus Climate survey results with key student, staff, and faculty groups on campus. Ensure timely and accurate recordkeeping and submission of grant -related reports. Ensure grant objectives are met and outcomes tracked through coordinating assessment and data collection efforts. Attend and participate in all OVW-direct technical assistance webinars, conference calls, trainings and other meetings. Communicate with leadership and the OVW about project status, request for modification if needed. Manage grant budget in partnership with department and the grants offices on campus. Other duties related to grant project implementation as assigned.
Scope & Impact: This senior-level position provides oversight for a group of employees working in a particular work area/project or serves as the senior-most expert responsible for performing tasks or advising within a particular work area. In a team lead capacity, this position does not have full formal supervisory authority for staff assigned; however, in order to complete assignments, the team leader must be able to schedule and control the daily working arrangements for that group of employees. The results of actions and decisions may have a significant impact on substantial segments of University operations.
Communication & Interaction : Interacts with key stakeholders across various levels of University and outside public while handling difficult and complex situations with tact and diplomacy. Interprets instructions and policies and communicates guidelines for project and service delivery.
Effective Knowledge: Applies functional area expertise to solve unusual problems or resolve challenges for which no precedent exists. Demonstrates skill at coordinating and organizing resources to achieve operational outcomes for a work unit.
Problem Solving & Judgement : Identifies and resolves issues while using judgment to escalate where appropriate. Anticipates potential problems and recommends solutions. Reviews work quality and makes suggestions for improvement while coaching employees to improve performance. Provides input to management during interviews and selection, work assignment and review, performance appraisals, and other personnel actions. Supports staff orientation and training.
Budget Authority: Provides input into budget development and may be responsible for monitoring/adhering to budget. May have limited signature authority for purchases or payroll within a work area. May be required to approve timesheets.
Policy & Procedure Authority: Primarily responsible for monitoring performance and policy compliance. May make recommendations regarding process and procedure change.
Reporting Relationships : Generally reports to a manager or higher. In very large departments, may report to an Assistant Director or faculty chair.
Supervisory & Team Leadership Responsibilities : The primary duty of this role is the planning and scheduling of work and coordination of service delivery. This role oversees individual contributors and support staff and may lead a team to deliver a particular service. Does not typically oversee professionals or other team leaders. While team leaders determine the distribution of work of other employees and may provide input, they do not make decisions regarding staff hiring/transfer, performance evaluations, promotions, compensation adjustments, reclassifications, or discipline. In some cases, Level 3 contributors may not have supervisory responsibility, but may have a high degree of autonomy and expertise related to a specific function or activity.
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health or closely related field from an accredited institution and at least 3+ years of relevant experience in a social services or education setting. Work experience and/or general knowledge of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and stalking, and evidence-based practices in gender-based violence prevention. Demonstrated ability to honor and work effectively with staff, students, administration and the community, including individuals of diverse identities, life experiences and abilities. Ability to travel for grant related training and institutes as necessary. Technical proficiency using a compute and needed software applications (e.g, Microsoft 365). Ability to design and offer interactive in-person or online educational workshops and passive/social media education and prevention campaigns that reflect best practice and principles of public health. Ability to interpret and comply with complex policies. Capacity to work autonomous and with self-direction. Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Prefer Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work or closely related field from an accredited institution, demonstrated training in advocacy, and experiencing implementing gender-based violence prevention programs. Successful track record of managing a grant funded project or program and meeting or exceeding objectives, including managing budgets and tracking financial expenditures, gathering dat, compiling information and preparing reports.

Position assists with the supervision of Peer Health Leaders engaged in gender-based violence prevention and response efforts.
