Position Overview:

Position is responsible for delivering resources and services to students impacted by gender-based violence and to work with students through their healing journey. Position provides emergency and ongoing support services and assistance for students who are the victims of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. The position coordinates with survivors and a variety of University offices to ensure effective delivery of needed services and resources. This role is expected to coordinate and follow up with daily caseload, projects and tasks, is expected to curate innovative approaches and enhancements to service delivery. This position will be responsible for escalating problems and reporting progress on a weekly basis.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Serves as the primary point of referral for students who have been impacted by gender-based violence. Responds to the present needs, which may include but is not limited to connecting with campus and/or community resources for continuity of care, Title IX reporting, police reporting. Provides ongoing support from a trauma-informed approach and serves as an advocate for on campus processes of reporting and supports. Intervene, consult and collaborate as liaison with campus and community based advocacy partner organizations to ensure continuity of care for victim. Work with local law enforcement and victim service agencies to improve victim-centered response. Participate in intake and case management, schedules and arranges appointments, provides compassionate referrals, monitors follow-up and progress for ongoing cases as needed and advises the Advocacy team of client progress and needs, as needed. Serve as counselor and advocate with extensive direct client contact, providing confidential advocacy and healing centered support to individuals impacted by trauma, violence or harm, including meeting with individuals personally; this includes making some independent and trauma informed judgments about advocacy strategy in the field. Maintain a caseload of individuals needing advocacy assistance including; giving information to allow clients to make informed decisions and practice self-advocacy virtually or in person; Participate in weekly case reviews. Serve on the Coordinate Campus Response Team (CCRT). Performs psychological/psycho-educational assessments. Maintains appropriate case documentation, supervision and evaluation records. Contribute to clinical training of student-therapists, and serve the department, division, and university through consultation and participation on committees that are assigned. Develops and maintains on and off campus community collaborations Participates in outreach/consultation services to the campus community. Performs other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Center for Counseling and Well-Being.

Job Level:

Scope & Impact: This senior-level position provides oversight for a group of employees working in a particular work area/project or serves as the senior-most expert responsible for performing tasks or advising within a particular work area. In a team lead capacity, this position does not have full formal supervisory authority for staff assigned; however, in order to complete assignments, the team leader must be able to schedule and control the daily working arrangements for that group of employees. The results of actions and decisions may have a significant impact on substantial segments of University operations.

Communication & Interaction : Interacts with key stakeholders across various levels of University and outside public while handling difficult and complex situations with tact and diplomacy. Interprets instructions and policies and communicates guidelines for project and service delivery. 

Effective Knowledge: Applies functional area expertise to solve unusual problems or resolve challenges for which no precedent exists. Demonstrates skill at coordinating and organizing resources to achieve operational outcomes for a work unit.

Problem Solving & Judgement : Identifies and resolves issues while using judgment to escalate where appropriate. Anticipates potential problems and recommends solutions. Reviews work quality and makes suggestions for improvement while coaching employees to improve performance. Provides input to management during interviews and selection, work assignment and review, performance appraisals, and other personnel actions. Supports staff orientation and training.

Budget Authority: Provides input into budget development and may be responsible for monitoring/adhering to budget. May have limited signature authority for purchases or payroll within a work area. May be required to approve timesheets.

Policy & Procedure Authority: Primarily responsible for monitoring performance and policy compliance. May make recommendations regarding process and procedure change.

Reporting Relationships : Generally reports to a manager or higher. In very large departments, may report to an Assistant Director or faculty chair.

Supervisory & Team Leadership Responsibilities : The primary duty of this role is the planning and scheduling of work and coordination of service delivery. This role oversees individual contributors and support staff and may lead a team to deliver a particular service. Does not typically oversee professionals or other team leaders. While team leaders determine the distribution of work of other employees and may provide input, they do not make decisions regarding staff hiring/transfer, performance evaluations, promotions, compensation adjustments, reclassifications, or discipline. In some cases, Level 3 contributors may not have supervisory responsibility, but may have a high degree of autonomy and expertise related to a specific function or activity.


Qualifications Required:

Requires a Master Degree in social work, counseling or related field from an accredited institution. Must hold a license to practice behavioral health in related field or be licensed eligible (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT). Minimum of two years experience in a mental health setting required. Demonstrated experience of education and training specific to trauma response and gender-based violence and evidence-based practice interventions. Demonstrated experience collaborating with multiple systems. Able to effectively use independent judgment and make professional decisions and recommendations in situations that require highly individualized planning in effectively advocating for the victim/survivor/complainant. Demonstrated ability to honor and work effectively with staff, students administration and the community, including individuals of diverse identities, life experiences, and abilities. technical proficiency using a compute rand software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, an electronic health record).

Qualifications Preferred:

Experience in a victim advocacy setting. Experience serving college students in a mental health or related setting. Demonstrated leadership experience. Understanding of state and federal statutes governing gender-based violence (e.g., Title IX, Clery).
