The Program in Multicategorical Special Education in the Division of Education, College of Education, Governors State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor position in Special Education.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include (a) conducting research in an area of special education and seeking external funding to support research, (b) teaching graduate courses in the Special Education program, mentoring masters students, and teaching the Special Education service course in the undergraduate program, © providing service to the profession and participating in professional conferences, and (d) providing service to the Program, Division, College, and University.

Governors State University ( GSU ) was founded in 1969, originally as an upper-division institution with a primary focus of serving community college graduates pursuing baccalaureate degrees. During the five intervening decades, GSU has grown to become the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago’s south suburban area, serving approximately 6,000 students annually in 85 different bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs. Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications include an earned doctorate in special education or a closely related field, or evidence that the degree will be in hand before August 1, 2021; evidence of, or the potential for, scholarly work in an area of disabilities; experience teaching graduate courses; evidence as, or potential for being, a researcher as well as a scholar/teacher.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach methods courses, have at least three years of PreK-12 classroom experience with students with disabilities, and those with experience with students having moderate-to-severe disabilities.
