Media & Film or Public Relations (depending on qualified candidate’s expertise)

Media & Film – to teach undergraduate courses in Digital Video Production, Audio Production, Television Production, Cinema Studies and Media Studies, as well as special topics and advanced courses in the field. Additional teaching assignments will include other courses based on school need and candidate expertise. Other responsibilities will include research, service and advising.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Communication or a closely related field or a Master’s degree with appropriate professional experience in digital media, film or television; experience with production and multi-media platforms; and experience teaching and advising a diverse student population is required.

Public Relations – to teach courses in Public Relations, Public Relations Writing and Public Relations Campaigns, as well as special topics and advanced courses in the field. Additional teaching assignments will include other courses based on school need and candidate expertise. Other responsibilities will include research, service and advising.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Communication or a closely related field or a Master’s degree with appropriate professional experience in public relations; experience using various media platforms; and experience teaching and advising a diverse student population is required. APRs with considerable professional experience in public relations and using various media platforms, with experience teaching may also apply.

This is a ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignment at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective for the Fall 2021 semester. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations.

All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
