Position Summary:

The position is with the University of Wisconsin - Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Radiology, which has 100+ faculty, including 25 fellows, 31 residents, and 100 academic and university staff. The Department of Radiology has a robust clinical program with over $83M in clinical revenue and research programs with 50 grants and over $12M in grant funding and other UW research revenue. The department interacts with regional partners as part of our outreach imaging program and collaborates with numerous departments and other institutes. We promote the Wisconsin Idea to provide a network of excellence in imaging services throughout Southcentral Wisconsin.

This position provides communications, writing, marketing, graphics, and multimedia support to the administrative, educational, research and clinical areas of the department. Responsibilities include: developing measurably effective communications and branding strategies; providing written communications through the use of visual design, news articles, and social media; maintaining websites and graphics, updating with new material and design as necessary; designing page layout for educational posters for presentations, slides, instructional notes, handbooks, fliers, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, etc.; and provision of photographic services, digital video recording and video processing services in collaboration with the Department IT Teams for various programs such as Grand Rounds and Resident Core Curriculum talks that are formatted and streamed to be used for instructional purposes.

The position will provide effective communications of department-newsworthy activities through our websites, social media, quarterly newsletter, etc., and through the visual design, implementation and coordination of complex multimedia projects and planning for the Department of Radiology. Consult with and act as a liaison to UW Health Marketing and Communications and Information Services and other non-university print and broadcast entities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required in Communications, Marketing, Media, Business or related field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Three years of experience in communications, writing/editing, marketing, graphics, or multimedia preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, desktop publishing and graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign required. Experience with content management systems such as WordPress required. Knowledge of effective web design principles preferred. Experience with video equipment and video editing software to create marketing materials, newsletters, reports, etc. preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently initiate, launch and manage campaigns and oversee projects to achieve department communications and marketing goals preferred. Should be able to develop and implement marketing concepts and strategies. Expert knowledge in managing institutional social media channels including Facebook and Twitter required. Familiarity with content generation, analytics tracking, and audience building in social media recommended. Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to foster excellent working relationships.

A minimum of seven years' experience required for appointment at the senior level.
