Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is now hiring an Assistant Rowing Coach at the Daytona Beach campus. The Assistant Rowing Coach supports the Head Coach and is responsible for a variety of coaching, teaching and recruiting issues, along with practice and competition-related functions as assigned by the Head Coach. All responsibilities should be in alignment with moving the men’s and women’s rowing teams in the direction outlined by the Head Coach.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide instruction to male and female rowing student-athletes on the fundamentals and strategies of rowing: on the water, on the ergs, and in the weight room.
  • Actively support and promote the NCAA’s Life in the Balance strategic positioning platform, embracing the six ideals of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship, passion and service.
  • Assist in monitoring the academic progress of all men’s and women’s rowing team members.
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for the men’s and women’s rowing teams.
  • Assist with the planning and operation of workshops, summer camps, clinics, etc. to promote the men’s and women’s rowing teams.
  • Assist with competition management duties.
  • Maintain and manage team equipment.
  • Collect, disseminate and maintain accurate records for the men’s and women’s rowing teams.
  • Assist in securing advertisements, sponsorships and donations to support the men’s and women’s rowing teams.
  • Assist with arranging for lodging and meals for trips including equipment logistics.
  • Assume duties of the head coach in his/her absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • The violation of NCAA and Sunshine State Conference rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of work related experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
    • More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
    • More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
    • A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of constituencies.
