The Student Services Specialist* is responsible for providing case management services to support the academic and career goals of WEI Grant Students.

This position is Grant funded and limited term, ending in October 2021.

Regular part-time Board established positions earn vacation and sick leave and tuition waiver for CLC classes and tuition reimbursement for advanced degrees. In addition, employees are eligible to participate in the State University Retirement System ( SURS )

Required Qualification

1. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, marketing, business, human resources or related fields, and at least and 3 years experience working with career counseling in a high volume work environment, particularly in a human services or workforce development or an equivalent combination
OR
An Associate’s degree, with at least 5 years experience working with career counseling in a high volume work environment, particularly in a human services or workforce development or an equivalent combination
2. Evidence of excellent customer or student service skills.
3. Strong organization skills, publishing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
4. Knowledge of various job search strategies, resources and actions plans
5. Ability to follow instructions well
6. Adaptable, flexible, and a fast learner
7. Creative and able to meet deadlines
8. Works well under pressure and goal oriented and works well within a team concept
9. Demonstrated computer skills, with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software applications
10. Familiarity with the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources
11. Willing to travel when necessary
12. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Pay Rate $20.31/HR. Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time Location Lakeshore Total Hours per week 20.00 Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, Up to 25 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Summary of Essential Functions

Student/Customer Service- 75%

· Advise and assist students with making academic and career goals a case management approach attending CLC under Workforce Equity Initiative grant in cohorts across nine (9) certificate programs.
· Coach Grant students to support academic success, program retention, and certificate completion.
· Connect Grant students to relevant community resources based on individual needs.
· Coordinates career mentoring and internships opportunities.
· Assist Grant students in removing and overcoming life barriers that would otherwise prevent successful participation in their program. Refer students to outside agencies including, but not limited to, contracted and partnered agencies.
· Assist in the implementation of workforce and college readiness programs.
· Responsible for visiting the in-person classes and establishing collaborative efforts with instructors and staff.

Data Entry/Reporting- 20%
· Keeps student files updated with correct information about academic and employment status.
· Implement program requirements to comply with the WEI grants and funding sources.
· Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Other Duties: 5%
· Complete any other task as assigned by supervisor.
