Job Description:

The Assistant Director, Payroll will be responsible for assisting with interpretation and implementation of State and Federal laws and rules for payroll and related procedures. Provide assistance in coordinating the processing, auditing, analyzing, and reporting of college payroll information. Provide assistance to the Director, Payroll Services with maintaining accurate records and files of financial accounting for the College’s payroll. Tasks include hands on processing as well as coordinating work of the payroll team members. The Assistant Director will assist in preparation and make any necessary corrections of the quarterly tax reports (form#941), the monthly retirement report, the quarterly Unemployment Compensation report, and other payroll reports. Assist in preparation of major and minor modifications for changes to the computerized payroll system. Research issues to determine resolution in Workday. Make recommendations of solutions to the Director, Payroll Services. In-district and overnight travel required. This position reports to the Director, Payroll Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in accounting or business, and three years full-time responsible payroll and supervisory experience are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Prefer experience in a post-secondary institution. Knowledge in accounting systems software, database software, payroll systems, and spreadsheet programs. Experience with Workday HCM software. Familiarity working with collective bargaining agreements concerning pay and benefits within a workforce. Experience with deadlines and records reporting requirements. Strong organization and communication skills with excellent attention to detail and dedication to accuracy.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

SALARY RANGE: $37,440.00 - $45,000.00
