Objective

Due to increased demand for nurses in the community and exciting partnership opportunities, this position is designed to support instruction when needs arise. The hours and days may vary according to the needs of the program.

Works under the supervision of a Master’s or Doctorally prepared nurse faculty to provide laboratory and clinical instruction in all areas of nursing education according to accreditation standards and guidelines.

Essential Duties

1. Assists in delivering curricula to upper and/or lower-level nursing students in a variety of teaching modalities within the nursing program.
2. Coaches students and assist in checking-off students for appropriate competency as determined by program and student learning outcomes .
3. Assists nursing faculty with supervision of students in clinical and simulated experiences.
4. Participate in professional development related to teaching, instruction, and student learning
5. Work collaboratively with others as part of a team to foster a positive work environment under the direction of the Director of Nursing
6. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Ability to articulate nursing concepts and patient safety standards to nursing students in verbal and written formats
2. Adequately use (or be willing to learn) digital technology for instruction in a variety of settings
3. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with students, faculty, and college officials
4. Clinical expertise to function effectively in the designated area of teaching.

Preferred Experience and Training

1. Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of nursing specialties
2. Specialty certification/credentialing in at least one specialty

Physical Requirements

• Demonstrate immunity per agreements with clinical affiliates
• Must be able to meet the following physical demands; bending, walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and handling equipment, supplies or patients exceeding 25 pounds.
• Must be able to lift 25 to 35 pounds without restrictions
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Alertness at all times while performing duties on campus or in the clinical setting

Required Degree, License or Certifications

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Masters of Science in Nursing preferred
2. Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
