POSITION SUMMARY: We seek a creative and collaborative individual who is passionate about promoting and supporting the learning, teaching, and research of Pomona College students and faculty by providing instructional technology support services and by participating in the coordination of these services with other curricular and research support colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with experience in supporting teaching and scholarship at the college level.  They will have facility working with faculty from across the disciplines using both established and newer instructional technologies and techniques. In collaboration with others in RITG, ITS, Library and other College staff, the Instructional Technologist will help to ensure that projects reflect effective practices.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Research, Instruction, and Support Services, the successful candidate will instruct users on the design and production of digital projects using software, hardware, and digital materials. The Instructional Technologist will be well-versed in the implementation of blended learning tools and techniques along with the literature in this area. They will also be ready to apply adaptive learning tools and techniques and be familiar with the literature in this area. Likewise, they will be ready to gather and apply learning analytics and be familiar with the literature in this area as well as be able to participate in the assessment of services offered in RITG. 


The Instructional Technologist will serve as primary community manager for RITG's social media accounts—tracking our social media influence metrics, monitoring and managing audience engagement, overseeing content strategy and implementation. The Instructional Technologist will help to oversee a group of student workers to provide optimum services to support the research and digital asset development needs of the students and faculty of Pomona College. 


The Instructional Technologist will monitor emerging technologies in teaching and learning to determine appropriate uses in our educational mission and will serve on departmental and/or college-wide committees and task forces, as required. They will participate in local consortia and regional and national associations, serve on ITS committees, and continually acquire new knowledge and skills to enhance professional performance in all areas of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Qualified candidates will have a Master’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years of experience post-Master’s degree in a higher education setting.  Doctoral Degree, strong research skills, and suitable publications and grant success are preferred. The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience with a broad variety of instructional methods and technologies, and have experience working in environments where new services are tested, evaluated, and adapted. Candidates will ideally have experience creating and coordinating educational programing focused on instructional technology issues and projects.  


REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required.  Travel will be required.  Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
