The Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi seeks applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Lighting Design to begin August 19, 2021. An MFA is required at the time of hire for this full-time, nine-month, position. Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty and staff in the theatre area in the offering of a BFA emphasis in Design & Theatre Production at a Research I University; teaching a variety of lighting design, programming, drafting, and production based classes; and performing service appropriate to the position including recruitment and participation in shared governance. Maintaining a record of professional creative work outside the department will be encouraged. Other responsibilities may include designing in our mainstage season and mentoring lighting design students on creative projects. The department currently enrolls 120 majors with 18 full-time faculty and offers a BA degree in Theatre Arts, a BFA in Theatre Arts with emphases in Acting for Stage and Screen and Design & Theatre Production, as well as a BFA in Film Production.
