Seattle Pacific University announces an opening for an Assistant Provost for Institutional Effectiveness. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Administration, the successful candidate will provide leadership, vision, and direction to enhance a culture of data-informed decision making across the institution.

  • Working with institutional leadership, the Assistant Provost of OIE will be lead an integrated institutional research/effectiveness function at SPU.
  • Provide leadership in the development and execution of quantitative and qualitative data analysis in support of student learning, student success, academic planning, program review, assessment, and enrollment management initiatives (e.g. enrollment and financial aid).
  • Serve as the Accreditation Liaison Officer related to the institution’s accreditation with the Northwest Commission for Colleges and Universities. Connect institutional research services effectively with and provide support and assistance to departments, schools and administrators for accreditation activities.
  • Serve as IPEDS keyholder and primary contact with external agencies seeking institutional data.
  • Provide leadership, in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Information Technology, for institutional data governance.
  • Lead and mentor IE team to foster an environment of continuous improvement, effective communication, and teamwork for the effort of enhancing institutional effectiveness.


  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field required (e.g. Education, Psychology, Business, Statistics), doctorate preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of social science research methodology and statistical analysis required.
  • Demonstrated experience in institutional research, assessment, and/or data analytics in a higher education context.
  • Expertise in student learning outcomes assessment, coordination of program review in higher education, evaluating degree program effectiveness, developing guidance materials and training faculty, and preparing reports for university and accreditation bodies preferred.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and ability to interact effectively with a variety of constituent groups required.
  • Ability to translate data report conclusions into usable information for decision making and policy analysis required. Experience in data analysis, including predictive modeling and hierarchical/longitudinal analysis preferred.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a strategic and creative approach to issues, exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities required.
