The Department of Biology and Biomedical Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in the 2021-22 academic year. Candidates at higher rank will also be considered, with rank commensurate with qualifications.

The biomedical engineering program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is among the highest-quality undergraduate-centered programs in the country. We are committed to employing innovative pedagogy and curriculum design to help undergraduate and Master’s-level students develop practical skills that allow them to be effective in research and industry-based career paths. Faculty and staff within the biomedical engineering program are highly collaborative and committed to the Institute’s mission to provide students with the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering, and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.

Preferred candidates will have a doctorate or near completion in biomedical engineering, engineering education, or another closely related field. Candidates with documented success in teaching, in both classroom and laboratory settings, as well as a proven commitment to improve themselves as a teacher and/or mentor are strongly preferred. While we encourage candidates in all fields of biomedical engineering to apply, experience in teaching and research in biomechanics and/or engineering design is preferred. The department and the Institute place a high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Essential job responsibilities include teaching and advising students, continued professional development, and service to the department, Institute and professional community. Applicants should submit via https://jobs.rose-hulman.edu a cover letter, a curriculum vitae or resume, a statement on their teaching philosophy and practices, a statement of their professional development/research goals, and a statement regarding their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applicants who advance through the initial screening will be asked for three references to submit recommendation letters.

Inquiries about the position should be sent to the Department Head at Jameel.Ahmed@Rose-Hulman.edu. Initial review of completed applications will begin February 1st 2021. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
