Work is ordinarily performed in an office environment but may be performed remotely depending on health and safety requirements under the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Washington Bothell currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Full Time TemporaryResearch Analyst.

The Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), the nation’s leading source for transformative, evidence-based ideas about public education, is seeking a research analyst to join our team.

Responsibilities:

The research analyst will conduct interviews, collect and analyze data, draw conclusions that are relevant to the field, and contribute to written products and project milestones. They will also have general project management responsibilities. Specific responsibilities include:

• Collect qualitative data through phone and in-person interviews with school districts, mayor’s offices, charter school networks, community organizations, policymakers and other education leaders across the country. Analyze data and identify trends, and translate those into research questions and analysis.
• Produce quality written work and/or briefings that meet the twin tests of academic respectability and potential significance for policy. Written work may include literature reviews, briefs, and other project deliverables.
• Organize project data and reports to funders, and to UW Institutional Review Board when required. Integrate information from multiple sources to ensure that research proposals meet the necessary requirements of funding agencies.
• Communicate results of the analysis to interviewees and other stakeholders. Partner with communications staff to disseminate results to a variety of audiences such as policymakers, practitioners, and thought leaders.

Minimum requirements:

• Commitment to and interest in the work and the mission of CRPE.
• A minimum of a master’s degree in public policy, education, or a field related to CRPE’s work, and 2 years of experience in research-related activities.
• Experience collecting and interpreting qualitative data, coupled with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with flexibility to adapt to CRPE style and open to writing multiple drafts to get it right.
• Track record of taking initiative to successfully manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• An entrepreneurial mindset (i.e. flexible, resourceful, and creative) and deep motivation to drive towards high-quality outcomes with a consistently positive attitude.
• Ability to work as an effective member of a small team and interested in learning about other CRPE projects and becoming a valued contributor to the organization.
• Ability to work with diverse constituents.
• Hands-on education or education policy experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Desired

• Familiarity with education reform landscape (issues, districts, individuals).
• Familiarity with quantitative data analysis (i.e. using software to calculate descriptive statistics; regression analysis).
• Experience conducting research, coordinating projects, analyzing data, presenting data, and preparing reports.
• Experience or background in education research/policy issues.
• Experience working with IRB/Human Subjects a plus.

Conditions of employment:

• Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
• Must be willing to travel nationally when necessary.
