Work is ordinarily performed in an office environment but may be performed remotely depending on health and safety requirements under the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University of Washington Bothell currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Full Time TemporaryResearch Coordinator.

The Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), the nation’s leading source for transformative, evidence-based ideas about public education, is seeking a research assistant to join our team. This position will support grant-funded research on topics such as the COVID-19 response, special education, school choice, education finance, career and technical education, and portfolio governance. The ideal candidate is an original thinker who demonstrates openness to new ideas.


The research coordinator supports research projects at CRPE through literature reviews, media searches, cite checking, organizational tasks, cleaning and processing data, preparing memos and preparing slides for briefings.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Conduct data analysis through preparation of data, coding, and matrix development. Contribute to conversations about complex issues that surface in data.
• Write memos and briefings, with a focus on writing more concrete elements such as methodology. Prepare and format presentation slides.
• Organize project data and reports to funders, and to UW Institutional Review Board when required. Integrate information from multiple sources to ensure that research proposals meet the necessary requirements of funding agencies.
• Conduct literature reviews and media searches. Act as lead on cite checking.
• Perform other organizational tasks as needed, such as scheduling calls and meetings.

Minimum requirements:

• Commitment to and interest in the work and the mission of CRPE.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public policy, education, business, economics, sociology or a field related to CRPE’s work and at least 1 year of experience in education policy research.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with flexibility to adapt to CRPE style and open to writing multiple drafts to get it right; ability to accept constructive feedback.
• An entrepreneurial mindset (i.e. flexible, resourceful, and creative) and deep motivation to drive towards high-quality outcomes with a consistently positive attitude.
• Ability to work as an effective member of a small team and interested in learning about other CRPE projects and becoming a valued contributor to the organization.
• Ability to travel.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.


• Familiarity with education reform landscape (issues, districts, individuals).
• Familiarity with quantitative data analysis (ie. using software to calculate descriptive statistics; regression analysis).
• Experience conducting research, coordinating projects, analyzing data, presenting data, and preparing reports.
• Experience or background in education research/policy issues.
• Experience working with IRB/Human Subjects a plus.


• Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
• Must be willing to travel nationally when necessary.
