Provides physical security for a university building.
- Unlocks and locks doors and checks all floors for unsecured doors.
- Monitors entry into the building and maintains sign-in/out log.
- Monitors security cameras and radio traffic; alerts proper personnel of camera malfunctions.
- Answers the telephone and greets visitors; provides information and directions.
- Provides immediate contact with the university's police department in case of an emergency; prepares incident reports.
- May accept parcel packages and deliver them to designated floors or staff.
- May monitor and control entry into a gated parking lot.
- Patrols assigned areas to check for criminal activity, rule violations, and irregularities.
- Performs other job-related duties assigned.

Qualifications :
High school and No experience.
Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. No experience is required.
Requires a valid Texas Driver's License. Please attach a copy of your driver’s license with your submission. Having a valid driver’s license is a requirement for the position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED. No experience is required.
Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime assignments.
Must be proficient with using a computer and Microsoft office suite. Must pass a Criminal History and valid TX Driver’s License check prior to an interview.
Must pass Background Investigation prior to employment. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. UHPD requires all applicants to complete the criminal history fields on their application. Applicants with incomplete criminal history fields will not be considered for a position.

Environmental:
The employee maybe exposed to inclement weather conditions, extensive public contact with student, faculty, and staff. Employees are required to work various assigned shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, and may be required to remain at their post for an additional shift. All staff are “essential personnel” and are required to report to work during inclement weather.
Physical:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in a law enforcement setting and an office setting; restrain or subdue individuals; walk, stand, sit, or run for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; occasionally climb and balance; ability to operate and use specialized law enforcement tools and equipment.
*This position is an essential position for the Department of Public Safety and the University of Houston Police Department. Essential position you will be required to perform the work needed if directed by management even when the office or school is closed and may be required to report to work.
