The position is attached to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at the University of St.Gallen. The successful candidate will take up his or her position on 1 September 2022.

Basic Requirements are a PhD thesis, first-class publications in leading journals and an outstanding track record in university teaching. We are looking for an excellent researcher in cultural and social psychology with a publication record that demonstrates high skills in the application of qualitative and/or mixed methods. The successful candidate’s research interests should connect with other disciplines of the social sciences and the humanities represented at SHSS, and add innovative methodologies and perspectives to the areas already covered by our colleagues in psychology at University of St.Gallen. Possible fields of study include – but are not limited to – cultures of consumption, inequality and discrimination, generational cultures, technologies and media, mental health and wellbeing.

The teaching load is 8 hours per week. Applicants are expected to teach interdisciplinary courses — mainly in the University's Contextual Studies Programme — and to be committed to the University's self-administration.

The University of St.Gallen offers BA, MA and PhD programmes in English and German. Teaching can be in English exclusively. The University's administrative language is Ger-man. If the successful candidate has no prior knowledge of German, he or she will be ex-pected to acquire a passive knowledge of the language within two years.
