The Dental Hygiene Clinical Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating first and second year clinic sessions; managing and maintaining inventory of clinic supplies; managing OSHA, radiology, emergency, and HIPAA training and documentation; maintaining safety data sheets and clinic equipment; mentoring part-time clinical instructors and receptionists; and collaborating with the program chair to solicit, maintain, and evaluate learning experiences at supplemental enrichment sites.

The clinical coordinator will help to support the college's initiative by serving as a liaison between perspective students and the program. This will be done through the implementation of orientations, information sessions and marketing. Regular visits to supplemental enrichment sites and managing of the dental hygiene clinic will be the focus of the clinical coordinator. The clinical coordinator will take part in curriculum management, program updates, accreditation site visits, and may work as clinical instructor in dental hygiene clinics and/or

WORK PERFORMED

  • Implement and instruct in the following areas: instrumentation, OSHA, infection control and blood-borne pathogens, and HIPAA.
  • Maintain documentation of all clinical processes.
  • Serve as liaison for communication with enrichment sites.
  • Mentor part-time clinical instructors and receptionists in the clinical setting.
  • Clinical instructor in the dental hygiene clinic and/or labs.
  • Have oversight and order supplies and maintain inventory and equipment with attention to cost and quality.
  • Set up instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Assist students in orienting to the laboratories and in practicing skills.
  • Manage and keep records of supplies, equipment repairs, trainings and equipment logs for sterilization.
  • Participate in curriculum development and revision.
  • Solicit and s up student enrichment sites.
  • Work with HCC clinical liaisons to monitor student health data records.
  • Collaborate with dental hygiene program chair and team on accreditation.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Five years clinical experience minimal, and three years' experience in education is preferred.
  • Licensed as a registered hygienist in the State of Maryland.
  • Candidate must be familiar with laws governing dental hygiene practice in the state of Maryland.
  • Working knowledge of state of Maryland dental hygiene practice.
  • Current CE requirements necessary for dental hygiene licensure in Maryland.
  • Current CPR/BSL certification.
  • Current license to practice dental hygiene in Maryland.
  • Current dental radiology licensure.
  • Experience and knowledge of dental hygiene accreditation procedures for dental hygiene programs.
  • Knowledge of current technologies and teaching methodologies in clinic and lab courses.
  • Current dental hygiene clinic practice experience.
  • Certified dental assistant experience helpful.
  • Experience in dental software & digital radiography.
  • Licensure in administering local anesthesia for dental hygiene practice.
  • Certification/continuing education in monitoring of nitrous oxide for dental hygiene practice.
  • Member of the American Dental Hygienists Association.

Additional Information:

Hours Per Week: 37.5
Work Schedule: M-F 8:30-5:00/Some evenings. Some days start as early as 7:30 am
Compensation: $55,191 plus excellent medical, tuition reimbursement and paid leave

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only.
