POSITION PURPOSE:
TRIO Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in
their preparation for college
entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to
succeed in their pre-college
performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.
Upward Bound serves high school
students from economically and educationally disadvantaged
backgrounds. The goal of Upward
Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete
secondary education and enroll in and
graduate from institutions of post-secondary education.
The Assistant Director, Upward Bound will coordinate and execute
student outreach plans during the
academic year, including responsibilities such as student outreach,
lesson facilitation, scheduling,
recruitment, and evaluation. This roll will identify and navigate
academic and student needs, and
assist in the planning and design of program activities. The
Assistant Director will be responsible for
maintaining student records and files; providing individual and
small group coaching and
appreciative and developmental advising to program students.
Assistant Director will work with
students to achieve their post-high school goals and help students
apply to colleges by advising them
about admission requirements and financial aid.
This position is located on the Northern State University campus
in Aberdeen, SD. Assistance with
relocation costs will not be offered. Upward Bound is a federally
funded grant program and all
positions are contingent upon continued funding by the Department
of Education.
