Job Summary
This position provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the Auburn University wired and wireless data network.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include basic and custom configurations of edge and core systems, leading various network projects, monitoring network performance, resolving network problems, working with end users and installing network equipment.
This position will require in depth practical knowledge of electronic shop methods, procedures and tools as well as current computer and networking technologies to include switches, routers, wireless access points, wireless controllers and both wired and wireless LANs and WANs. The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated person who is capable of performing with limited supervision and possesses exceptional creativity and advanced communication and interpersonal skills.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or related field with a high degree of experience in the configuration and installation of Cisco network communications equipment and the ability to troubleshoot network communications issues in both LANS and WANS ; experience with outside plant installation and maintenance; Cat 3/5/5e/6 inside plant installation and maintenance as well as extensive experience with wireless network design, installation and maintenance. Actual in-depth working experience with the design, installation and maintenance of Aruba 802.11n wireless system products such as Aruba ClearPass, AirWave, APs and controllers is also highly desired.
