In collaboration with students and colleagues, the Division of Student Development at Denison will strive to cultivate an inclusive campus experience that facilitates student engagement, social inclusion, intellectual curiosity, and personal exploration. Denison is seeking an experienced and proven student affairs leader to serve as the new Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Life. The AVP/Dean of Student Life will report to the Vice President of Student Development and is a member of the divisional senior leadership team. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership in advancing the University’s priorities to support an inclusive, vibrant campus experience for all Denison students. We seek an energetic, visible, student-focused individual with a strong commitment to supporting our highly-motivated diverse student body. This individual will model an atmosphere of respect, caring, collective engagement, inclusive excellence, accountability, and personal growth in a rigorous and vibrant residential campus community.

This person will provide strategic leadership in advancing the University’s priorities to support an inclusive, vibrant campus experience for all Denison students. Lead the offices that support the residential, co-curricular and leadership development opportunities for students in support of the University’s educational mission serving a student population of 2,300 and 150+ recognized student organizations. Oversee the following areas: housing and residence life, student organizations and leadership development programs, fraternity and sorority life, community service, orientation and first year experience, and student conduct. Model an atmosphere of respect, caring, collective engagement, inclusive excellence, accountability, and personal growth in a rigorous and vibrant residential campus community.

Minimum qualifications include: Master’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in higher education/student affairs administration, and 7 years of relevant collegiate higher education/student affairs experience. Experience in student conduct systems, residential life, student involvement and leadership, and orientation programs. Trained in current practices necessary to support student engagement, social connections, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in a residential college environment.
