Reporting Analyst II

Job Summary

The Reporting Analyst II oversees the ongoing implementation of the university’s information systems with an emphasis on reporting and visualization development. Trains end users on the usage of Business Intelligence tools, and coaches technical staff and functional users on best practices in report development.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

•Serves as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with IT project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which Business Intelligence applications and solutions are developed.

•Analyzes, estimates, and fulfills requests for information and reports from transactional systems.

•Provides support and development of processes within the university’s transactional systems.

•Works with the business users to document key business intelligence terms and definitions.

•Leads training and adoption initiatives to increase institutional data literacy and promote data governance.

•Ensures accurate, useful, and readily accessible data, meta-data, and data definitions by following policies and procedures for data element use.

Other Duties:

•Stays current on trends and education on the latest software tools for continuous programming.

Provides training and assistance to the business users on the university’s transaction and reporting systems.

•Prepares accurate time estimates for projects and manages tasks to meet deadlines.

•Attends conferences and advanced training.

•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Four years of professional full-time experience supporting the use of business information technologies.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Experience with administration, architectural design, development, and support of reporting systems and applications like Cognos, Workday Report Developer or related reporting software packages.

Experience with the development of visualization, dashboard and data discovery tools such as Tableau, Qlik, and Cognos Dashboards.

Experience with the relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server; reading code and developing programs, preferred experience in SQL and/or PL/SQL, or related languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting Workday, Ellucian Banner, or higher education ERP systems.

Experience with the use and administration of Workday Prism.

Experience supporting functional users and systems in areas such as student information, finance, and human resources.

Experience with the use of Microsoft Visio, Project, and SharePoint software.

A variety of information technologies and relevant experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and ability to understand Ellucian Banner, Workday or other ERP/Student Information Systems, Operational Data Store, and Enterprise Data Warehousing Concepts.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to focus mentally on challenging technical problems that may require significant time to resolve.

Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.

Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results in a concise format.

Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a diverse community and willing to contribute to a team effort.

Ability to effectively analyze, develop, and implement projects.

Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.

Ability to use a personal computer and MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

Ability to maintain a strong understanding of business workflow, processes, and events and how these are captured in transactional systems.

Ability to analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions, and/or develop appropriate alternatives where applicable.

Ability to read code and program in a variety of languages including Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Java, HTML, XML, scripting, and stylesheets.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 annually
