Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Sensitivity, confidentiality, and concern for students.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to perform duties necessary to accomplish the mission of the unit.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Higher Education.
License/Certification Required


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

University Tutorial Services ( UTS ) provides services to approximately 4,000 students each year, including targeted services for students who face unique challenges and general services available to all undergraduates. Tutoring services range from small group tutoring by appointment to drop-in learning labs across campus.

The Director is responsible for the following:

  • Oversight of all operations within UTS .
  • Coordinates the hiring of new tutors, lab managers and LEAD tutors each semester.
  • Supervises full or part-time staff, an average of 200 content tutors per year, Lab managers and LEAD tutors.
  • Oversee all training for UTS including the CRLA -certified tutor-training program in collaboration.
  • Serves as mentor and advocate with individuals involved in UTS .
  • Responsible for managing systems to connect students with tutors.
  • Oversees and manages payroll for all tutors.
  • Communicates broadly and effectively across university regarding UTS services, usage reports, announcements, etc.
  • Serve as liaison with academic departments regarding tutoring services for their courses/areas.
  • Oversees and manages the tutoring budget.
  • Responsible for identifying strategic and innovative tutoring models.
  • Oversee tutors’ usage of scheduling software. Currently the institution uses TutorTrac.
Suggested Salary Range $53,000 - $58,000 Physical Demands of Position
