Shenandoah University invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost. The university seeks a leader who is forward-thinking and eager to be at the forefront of higher education trends, is committed to relevance through professional and liberal learning, embraces global citizenship, as well as diverse voices and approaches.
As the chief academic officer, the Provost shares responsibility with the faculty in realizing the academic strategic plan of the university, hiring and evaluating faculty, supporting teaching and scholarship, and curricular planning. The Provost is also involved in fundraising, public relations, university-wide budgeting, and enrollment processes.
Candidates should have a terminal degree in their field, administrative experience, a distinguished record in teaching, and a record of scholarship (research or performing). The successful candidate will be a decisive and compassionate leader, inclusive of all people, aware of higher education trends, and have a demonstrated interest in collaborative leadership.
Shenandoah University, founded in 1875, is a private university with an enrollment of more than 4,000 students across six schools: Arts & Sciences, Business, Conservatory, Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy. The university’s main campus is located in Winchester, VA in the beautiful and historic Shenandoah Valley approximately 70 miles west of Washington, DC, with additional campuses in Northern Virginia.

and will continue until the position is filled. Complete

Ideally, the new Provost will assume office in July 2021.
