PURPOSE:

 

*** TEMPORARY POSITION ***

 

THIS IS A GRANT SUPPORTED POSITION SUBJECT TO ANNUAL RENEWAL OF GRANT FUNDS-NO PERMANENT APPOINTMENT WILL BE REACHED FROM THIS POSITION. Under the general supervision of the Project Director, this position will provide day-to-day management, implementation, and continuous improvement of educational enrichment activities designed to promote student academic success to achieve the goals and objectives of Project CYS (Channel Your Success), a Hispanic-Serving Institution Title V grant program.

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Channel Your Success Activity Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of the Student Success Activity 1 "Advancing a Culture of Completion" including the oversight, planning, design, and evaluation of the ASSET Scholars Program. Works closely with the Student Research Faculty Lead and other faculty to enhance student research opportunities. Manages Innovative Communication for Student Success activities including developing culturally relevant messaging for targeted student success Graduation Initiative and Financial Literacy campaigns using Artificial Intelligence Chatbot technology and student equity data.

 

Manages the day-to-day programmatic and administrative operations and Activity 1 budget including expense reconciliation and tracking and prepares regular budget updates and reports. Continually monitors and evaluates the needs and expectations of program participants and stakeholders to develop effective assessment strategies for grant activities and to develop effective strategies for continuous improvement. Draws on proven best practices to address participant and stakeholder needs that underscore the challenges, values, and benefits of timely degree completion and closing equity gaps. Fully develops and implements the Activity 1 evaluation plan, including data collection strategies, analysis, and impact reporting. Responsible for preparing presentations and program update reports, mid-year and annual reports detailing the accomplishments and successes of grant activities and disseminate reports to core partners at CSUCI.

 

Hires, trains, mentors, and manages all project peer mentors including direct supervision of ASSET Scholars Peer Mentors and co-supervision of Research Peer Mentors and supervises the ASSET Scholars and Student Research Coordinator position. Provides training to all peer mentors and professional staff on Financial Aid Literacy basics, strategic messaging and communication to students, and on data collection strategies. Provides professional development to project staff to ensure they are knowledgeable and skilled in implementing grant activities. Regularly convenes team meetings with project activity staff to develop effective implementation and assessment strategies for grant activities, and to develop effective strategies for continuous improvement.

 

Regularly participates in strategic operations and planning activities to make connections between project initiatives that advance departmental goals, values, and working agreements. Facilitates collaboration among Title V staff on academic student success efforts; and oversees lead work assignments for all direct reports and as they relate to project initiatives. Develops and maintains cross-divisional working relationships with Communication & Marketing, Teaching & Learning Innovations, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, STEM Center, Learning Resource Center, & Writing & Multiliteracy Writing Center. Serves on all relevant university and community committees as assigned. Travels occasionally to engage in ongoing professional development relevant to promoting student academic success initiatives as well as grant administration.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Master's degree or its equivalent in Education, Counseling or related fields; and at least three years of experience designing & managing student academic success peer mentoring programs and supervisory work in a professional setting.

 

Other requirements of the position include: Experience facilitating student leadership development training; supervising professional & student staff; proficient in financial aid literacy; and working with faculty on academic success initiatives. Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating services and objectives, preferably in the areas of academic student success and retention in a higher education setting. Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide range of campus and federal policies and procedures relating to project administration and operations including budgeting. Experience with designing, managing or implementing programs for underserved communities.

 

Experience with grant project management and budget administration and ability to prioritize and execute a wide range of projects simultaneously. Experience working with underserved students; ability to assist university leadership with linking improved practices in teaching & learning to university-wide efforts. Excellent organizational, public speaking, writing skills, interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and excellent interpersonal communication skills; take initiative, work independently, and start and see a project through to completion; use diplomacy, tact and discretion; learn new skills and quickly absorb new information; and investigate, research, analyze, and solve problems. Demonstrated ability to work with a team on collaborative projects, practice flexibility, effectively communicate to resolve problems, and manage conflict productively exercising the highest degree of collegiality. Ability to advance and complete work assignment in the absence of formal structures and develop structures as needed to formalize processes as standard operating procedures.

 

Must have advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and basic experience with Adobe products. Experience with project management or administering grants (i.e., educational grants, human service grants, or Title V grant programs). Demonstrated expertise in administrative survey techniques, operations and systems analysis, statistical research methods, and the ability to interpret and evaluate results to develop sound conclusions and recommend new or revised policies. Ability to understand problems from a broad, interactive perspective and discern applicable underlying principles to conceive of and develop strategic solutions. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including, but not limited to; students, faculty, staff, guests, and administrators. Desired skills include managing technology for strategic communication (AI Chatbot) and academic technology software (to design course modules in Canvas Learning Management System, create engaging virtual activities, etc.).

SALARY RANGE: 

$3,750-$5,000/month
