Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Law Enforcement Officer (Law Enforcement Officer I) in the Department of Public Safety.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: patrols assigned areas and observes for criminal and traffic violations and/or other suspicious activity; enforces University rules, state and local laws, issues citations and/or makes arrests in accordance with the law and general orders; answers calls for service; conducts investigations; attends court; makes timely documentation on all enforcement and investigative activities and incidents; completes proper departmental forms; performs follow-up investigations; regulates and when needed directs pedestrian and vehicular traffic; and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Must have a satisfactory driving history and no criminal history. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be eligible to/and obtain certification from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy Basic Training Course for police or be a certified police officer in the state of South Carolina and must have or be able to obtain a valid SC driver's license. South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Class I Law Enforcement certification is preferred. Must be able to pass a SCCJA standardized physical abilities test, exert up to one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to move objects and must be able to pass a psychological exam.
