Job Details
Dartmouth seeks a Director to lead the West Coast Advancement region and to implement a sophisticated, integrated, efficient and impactful presence across all constituents in the region. With a high degree of autonomy and delegated authority to act on the College's behalf, the new director will work independently at a high level while actively engaging with the main campus to ensure the West Coast staff is in lock step with the home institution and its priorities. It is important that the new director is proactive, tenacious, and entrepreneurial and able to build close relationships and partnerships with others, including donors, volunteers, colleagues, faculty, deans, and other academic leaders to build upon a successful West Coast region major gift program. The Director will oversee several frontline fundraisers and be personally responsible for working with approximately 150 families to implement comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for restricted and unrestricted gifts to Dartmouth.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in a complex or university development operation; or the equivalent. Evidence of successful solicitations at leadership giving level, and experience working with alumni and parents in an educational setting preferred. The successful candidate must be a team player with maturity, intelligence, and professionalism that earn the respect of colleagues, volunteers, and donors. Strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking skills are essential. The Director must have an engaging personality with demonstrated initiative and creative energy. Staff and volunteer management experience is preferred.
