Assistant Professor, Consumer Studies
The Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, Consumer Studies. Responsibilities include the following: Teach undergraduate courses in financial counseling, family financial management, and debt and credit management (3/3 course load per academic year), develop a research scholarship program that includes scholarly presentations and publications appropriate for Collegiate Faculty at a R1 research university, develop and oversee a financial counseling lab for the campus community, contribute to the consumer studies program by networking with industry for internships, employment, and professional development opportunities for students, advise undergraduate students, serve on departmental, college, and university committees and attend professional conferences and meetings. The position requires a Ph.D. in Consumer Science or a related field and demonstrated potential for effective teaching, scholarly productivity and grant funding.
