Position Summary:

The UW-Madison National Magnetic Resonance Facility at Madison provides NMR instrumentation and training to UW-Madison bioscience researchers. Current equipment includes 11 spectrometers ranging from 500 to 900 MHz, five of which (three 600, one 750 and one 900 MHz) are equipped with state-of-the-art SSNMR probes, as well as computational infrastructure to support NMR data analysis.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

PhD in Biophysics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

At least 3 years relevant research experience in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) spectroscopy.

The person hired must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a talent for collaborative research, good organizational skills, an ability to be innovative and inventive in designing SSNMR instrumentation, be self-motivated and work independently, and have sufficient knowledge of the operation of modern SSNMR spectrometers.

Experience in computational analysis of SSNMR data is also desired, with at least basic familiarity with both magic-angle spinning and oriented sample methods.

Salary is commensurate with experience with minimum levels of $50K, $65K and $75K depending on level at time of appointment. Level is determined by relevant experience
