The University of Washington, Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is seeking a full-time academic orthopaedic hand surgeon. The practice will be located at Harborview Medical Center and the Northwest Hospital campus of the University of Washington Medical Center. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure due to lack of funding). The holder of this position will join the Combined Hand Surgery Service, a program shared between the Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and the Division of Plastic Surgery, and will include an adjunct appointment with the Department of Surgery. Clinical responsibilities include the broad spectrum of hand surgery and microsurgery. Opportunities exist for both clinical and basic research as well as resident and fellow education. The position has a 12-month service period from July 1 through June 30th with an anticipated start date in September 2021.
QualificationsApplicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), be board certified (or eligible) in orthopaedic surgery and fellowship trained in hand/microvascular surgery. Required qualifications include training and experience in hand and extremity reconstruction, including microsurgery. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
