Qualifications:   

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or in one of IEEE fields of interest from an accredited institution. Applicants must have completed BS degree or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution. A proven record of leadership with a demonstrated record of accomplishments in research, scholarship and teaching that warrants a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate/Full Professor is required. Demonstrated administrative leadership and experience in higher education such as the director of a research center, chair/head of an academic department, or comparable position with responsibilities that included budgeting, strategic planning, personnel management, performance reviews, and promotion and tenure decisions is expected. Familiarity and involvement with higher education systems including ABET accreditation is required. Applicants must demonstrate ability to effectively work with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff. Evidence of degrees required at time of hire.

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to work in the United States.

All positions are contingent upon Provost's approval and budget considerations.

Responsibilities:  

The Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) will lead a teaching and research-balanced department, providing vision with strategic planning of the department, which aligns with the goals, and strategic plan of the College and the University. The Chair will lead the department to advance teaching excellence, research, innovation and facilitate collaborations across the university as well as nationally and internationally. The Chair will be responsible for departmental strategic planning, budget, personnel and facility management, faculty development, student recruitment and retention, curriculum development, and other required duties. The Chair will report to the Dean and will work collaboratively with other departments in the college. The initial appointment is for a three-year term and will be eligible for a re­appointment for an additional three years. Additionally, the Chair is responsible for organizing and leading the department’s Industry Liaison Council (ILC). The ILC consists of alumni and industry leaders who actively support the department’s programs, students and faculty.
