Baylor College of Medicine and the NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center are affiliated with five major teaching hospitals in the Texas Medical Center including Baylor St Luke's Medical Center, The Ben Taub General Hospital and the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center. Ample laboratory space is available in the Cancer Center. The 427 members of the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center generate more than $158M annually in cancer related research funding including two SPORE grants in breast cancer and lymphoma. Cancer researchers in Texas may apply for research funding to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (a state agency charged with supporting innovation in cancer research in Texas with funding of 3 billion dollars over 10 years). Summary

The Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, is recruiting an Oncologist clinician investigator with an interest in Thoracic Head and Neck to join the Section of Hematology/Oncology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.

The Center includes seven outstanding integrated Research Programs in Breast Cancer, Cancer Cell and Gene Therapy, Nuclear Receptors, Pediatric Oncology, Prevention and Population Science, Cancer Biology and Cancer Evolvability. Several new initiatives are in development including programs in thoracic malignancies, hematologic malignancies, GU cancers, pancreatic cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and early phase clinical studies. Eleven Shared Resources are available to Cancer Center members and the Human Genome Sequencing Center (one of three in the country), a Cancer Genetics Lab, and the Center for Drug Discovery are additional unique resources. The Center is the recipient of a $100M naming gift from the Duncan family to be used largely for program development and recruitment.

Job Qualifications:

Interested candidates will have an MD or MD/PhD degree and should be board eligible or board certified in hematology and/or oncology.
