Director of Human Resources
Directing employment activities of the college and carrying out policies relating to all phases of personnel activities and legislation concerning equal employment practices.
SALARY RANGE: $72,380 - $90,480

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops policies to carry out the
provisions of the applicable Federal and State laws and the
policies of the Tennessee Board of Regents.
Assists Equity Officer with complaint inquiry.
Serves as the coordinator for the American’s with Disabilities Act
for staff.
Develops sources of qualified applicants, advertises positions,
schedules appropriate tests, evaluates applicant’s qualifications,
and arranges interviews in compliance with the College’s inclusive
hiring guide.
Maintains personnel records and compiles statistical reports
concerning recruitments, interviews, hires, transfers,
reassignments, promotions and terminations.
Analyzes statistical data and other reports concerning all aspects
of the employment function in order to identify and determine
causes of personnel problems and to develop and present
recommendations for improvement of the college’s employment
policies, processes and practices.
Coordinates the analysis of all positions, assists in the
development of job descriptions, the job classification system,
compensation policies, promotion policies and evaluation
procedures, excluding faculty.
Works with the budget office to
prepare/submit personnel information to TBR as
part of the campus budget process.
Maintains a monitoring system to assure compliance with applicable
Federal and State legislation and regulations.
Reviews the Federal Register, Administrative Procedures Act,
Tennessee Code Annotated, Tennessee Administrative Register, Civil
Rights Regulations, Equal Employment Opportunity Act, Affirmative
Action Register, Handicapped Act, and the Tennessee Board of
Regents Policies and Guidelines.
Provides leadership for the Professional Development Series.
Prepares and reviews data for the Affordable Care Act annual
reporting.
Assists in the development and implementation of the various
grievance procedures.
Evaluates personnel assigned to this office.
Provide orientation for new employees on benefits available and
personnel policies and procedures.
Provide benefit updates and options for all college employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field from a regionally
accredited institution. Masters preferred.
Strong experience and proven performance in the human resource
field, preferably in higher education.
Understanding of TBR practices, procedures and systems
preferred.
Ability to develop practices and policies which will provide
procedures for the employment, promotion and retention of qualified
employees and afford due process to all personnel grievances and
unfavorable personnel action.
