The History Department at Bowdoin College seeks applicants for a visiting assistant professor position in pre-modern Chinese History (any era up to and including the late imperial period), beginning July 1, 2021. PhD in hand by date of appointment preferred; advanced ABDs considered. This is a full-time position with an initial appointment for one year and the possibility of a one-year extension pending administrative approval. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester; these offerings should include at least one pre-modern course per semester and at least one modern course during the year, with flexibility for the fourth class. We also expect that the courses will be cross-listed with the Asian Studies Program.
